So, you want to get lash extensions but aren’t sure what to expect. Well then, you’re in the right place. We‘ve put together a few tips to help you better prepare for your appointment.
Your first lash appointment can be mysterious. The actual application may appear daunting but fear not! You’ll be back for your fill in no time. Lying down with your eyes closed for an extended period, one may think the sun is still shining or that the seasons have changed by the end of the service. Giving your chosen lash tech literal blind trust is an investment in patience. But not to worry! The wait will be justified and the glam will be blessed.
Here is what to expect and some advice for your first lash extension appointment:
Your first appointment for lash extensions can take anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours. Plan to be lying down for the entire time so limit your water intake before you arrive. Some clients love to get a good podcast or audiobook ready. If not, we provide music. And blankets. We want the duration of your appointment to be as comfy as possible. Naps are encouraged as well to limit talking and movement of the face as laying still will allow us to do our jobs as efficiently as possible.
Before your service begins, we'll start with a potty break.
Big Pre-Appointment No-No's:
Coffee - to avoid jitters and more bathroom breaks. I prefer to drink warm herbal tea to relax my muscles and mind. Passion tea is my personal recommendation.
Makeup - we want a clean slate a clear path from extension to natural lash,
The consultation will cover a few basic questions to make sure there are no contraindications for the service you've selected. Then we will proceed to the fun stuff. Bring pictures of styles you admire. What look do you want? Are you preparing for a special occasion? What tier of volume are you striving for? Then, we'll work together to make your vision come true. We will then discuss exactly what lashes to be applied to achieve the said vision while also maintaining the integrity of your natural lashes. We need those to be in tip-top shape to apply your extensions. Btw, if you're wondering whether or not extensions damage the natural lashes, click here...
Moving on to the service itself. We start with a gentle cleanse, and place some nice, cooling eye pads down to keep those bottom lashes out of the way. Then away we go, strategically and tediously applying extension by extension. Once about 90% of your natural lashes have been covered, we give them a nice cure with our cute, mini humidifier.
So what's the maintenance really like you ask?
Sorry back sleepers… Sleeping on your back or side will have to be your new fave. We suggest investing in a silk pillow to prevent any snagging of the lashes; they're actually amazing for skin and hair, too. But, our favorite piece of advice: CLEANSE!! Don’t be afraid to get those lashes wet girl. In fact, it is absolutely necessary not only for retention but keeping your lash line clean and free of excess oils and debris. Pick up our lash cleanser and some disposable brushes at the end of your appointment, you'll thank us later.
Schedule your next appointment 2 to 3 weeks out, typically when you are left with about 50% of your extensions. Naturally, we shed 5-7 lashes per day. By the two-week mark, that is just under 100 lashes! Maintain your fullness and fall in love with your striking perfection with routine fill-ins.
