Dry season is here and we want to give you the best tips and tricks to help you see long-lasting results with your services, and protect your lashes and brows, keeping them hydrated and healthy all winter long.
Some common issues we see are dry, flakey patches throughout the brows, eyelids, and lash line, oftentimes creating unwanted build-up.
Brows
You may have noticed, that dry, patchy skin can create a very uneven tint application that kind of sloughs off as your skin continues to shed, causing your fresh tint to come off right with it.
Exfoliating 24-48 hours before appointments and hydrating—well, you should always be hydrating, especially the 3-4 days leading up to your appointment. I also want to point out the difference here between hydrating—which is adding or increasing the water content of the skin—and applying a "moisturizer," which can be more "fat"-based and only create a barrier on the skin. So, we want to use something like aloe with a high water content and a moisturizer as the next layer to lock that water in.
If you regularly wax, tint, or laminate your brows we recommend products like the ZO Exfoliating Polish or your preferred facial sugar scrub. We also LOVE the Lash & Brow Masque from Revitalash Cosmetics - super hydrating, as well as their Brow Serum. A popular product we send our clients home with is castor oil which is great for its nourishing properties and can also help stimulate hair growth!
Lashes
Excess shedding can create buildup that can't usually be completely removed in one cleanse at your lash appointment. So regularly cleansing your lash extensions is a must.
WELOVEEYES and Lashmakers cleanser are our top two current fave's.
To keep your natural lashes hydrated with extensions, we recommend a lash extension-safe serum, our favorite of course being from Revitalash Cosmetics.
If you are a lash lift & tint regular, regular cleansing is great for its exfoliative effects. In regards to aftercare, serums, and castor oil will be amazing options for you. And yes, you can you use both! The serum is applied daily, followed by castor oil. If you feel like the castor oil is too much, reduce its application to a few times a week.
