What is a brow lamination?

Updated: 5 days ago

Brow Lamination

It's all over the internet. If you haven't seen it by now, brow lamination has become a top-trending beauty service to achieve a perfectly full and fluffy brow that will last you 4-6 weeks. Reminiscent of the 80’s bushy brow, many have turned to brow lamination (paired with a great serum…) to combat the damages done by the 90’s and early 2000’s attack of the tweezers that left too many of us with super thin eyebrows. But there is hope!

So what is a brow lamination exactly? The process involves what is essentially a perm that is specifically formulated for the delicate hairs of the brow as well as the surrounding facial skin. Here at Rebel Lash, we are currently in love with the Boo Beauty Bar Lift/Lamination System. The system consists of two steps: the lift solution which breaks down the bonds of the hair to allow for manipulation (shaping), and the setting lotion or neutralizer to seal the brow hairs into place. We follow with a wax and tint when necessary, and a leave-in conditioning treatment.

The ability to manipulate the hairs with a brow lamination gives us more options when it comes to shaping. What does that mean? It means we can brush the hairs up - we love to follow a 45-degree angle to keep the brows looking as natural as possible - so that the brows themselves appear fuller and thicker. We can cover small gaps within the brow. We can create a more defined arch, and even lift the brow to give you a teeny tiny facelift. A brow lamination will redirect downward growing hairs, and smooth out coarse/curly brow hairs so that you can wake up with perfect brows, and for manageability when styling.

Pair your lamination with a wax and tint to get a super clean, even more defined look. The wax will take care of any strays and peach fuzz while the tint can create a more even-looking brown in terms of color (blonde baby hairs, gray hairs, etc) or give you that filled-in look by making the brow hairs a bit darker and tinting the skin.

Now that you have beautiful, fluffy brows what is the maintenance like? As mentioned earlier, expect your lamination to last you 4-6 weeks. The variance is due to each person's different hair growth cycles and at-home habits. Essentially, after about 4-6 weeks each brow hair that was laminated will have shed and been replaced with a new hair, bringing you back to your natural brow. At this time, you will be ready for your next brow lamination without the risk of double processing the brow hairs.

So, now that you know all about brow lamination, get your appointment booked, and feel free to contact us with any additional questions you might have!

See you soon!
